Sep 16, 2021: Baltimore Sun: Retro Baltimore: ‘60s pop star Ronnie Dove still in love with music — and his fans still in love with him
At 86, Ronnie Dove still has it all: his hair, his teeth, that crisp tenor and the memories of a musical career rife with pop hits of yore. Eleven times in the mid-1960s, his songs crashed Billboard’s Top 40, a stretch when he appeared on American Bandstand, The Ed Sullivan Show and at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee
Nowadays Dove, a great-grandfather who lives in Pasadena, still draws crowds at local venues. Last week, he performed at the Rosedale American Legion; on Oct. 15, he’ll play the one in Aberdeen. Several times, he has sung the national anthem before Orioles’ games at Camden Yards.
Mar 2, 2016: Capital Gazette: Around Pasadena: Ronnie Dove recounts life on the road, Elvis and hit music
Ronnie Dove's musical career has withstood the test of time. With more than 200 recorded songs over the past 60 years, Dove has become a multi-genre, pop-icon who, at the age of 80, continues to travel and entertain crowds all over the region.
He still dresses like a star, donning a silver pompadour, gold chain and brilliant smile. His journey started in small-town Virginia.

When the “golden oldies” resurgence broke open in the 1980s Dove started touring again, until 1989, when his beloved mother became seriously ill. He moved back to Herndon and stopped touring for three years. Dove, who lives in Pasadena, has five children. They live in Waldorf and Belair, Portland, Ore., and two daughters in Hollywood, Calif. “One works for Universal and one works for Warner Brothers,” he said.
