Born Viginia Patterson Hensley on Sept. 8, 1932 in Gore, Virginia. Killed in a plane crash (age 30) with Cowboy Copas and Hankshaw Hawkins on March 5, 1963 near Camden, Tennessee. Elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973. Jessica Lange portrayed Cline in the 1985 biographical movie Sweet Dreams. Won Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.
