FATS DOMINO

Nov 22, 2022: Far Out Magazine: How Kurt Vonnegut, Fats Domino and flatulence inspired New Order's 'Blue Monday'
It’s a regrettable phenomenon, but some bands do become synonymous with their most successful songs. Although they do indeed have several other excellent tunes in their catalogue, this maxim could certainly be applied to New Order and ‘Blue Monday’. The track was released as a single from the band’s second album, Power, Corruption and Lies, in 1983.

Sept 18, 2013: Times Picayune: Jazz trumpeter Irvin Mayfield found his thrill at Fats Domino's house

"Fats Domino was one of my heroes, and in the '50s, his producer called and said Fats was overseas and they had a deadline to meet. I went into the studio and played piano on three songs just as Fats would play them. He did the vocals afterwards. Six months later, the album was out and doing well. Fats saw me and said, "I couldn't tell whether that was me or you playing the piano." It was one of the biggest compliments of my life." --Allen Toussaint
