“A good DJ is always looking at the crowd, seeing what they’re like, seeing whether it’s working; communicating with them. Smiling at them. And a bad DJ is always looking down at what they’re doing all the time and just doing their thing that they practiced in their bedroom.” – Fatboy Slim

Jan 30, 2020: ABC: These 5 songs never leave Fatboy Slim's record crate
"I became a DJ because I was a record collector. A vinyl junkie," he tells Zan Rowe for the Take 5 on Double J.
"In those days, before streaming and downloading, you physically had to possess the records to hear them. So, because I had records, I used to get invited to parties, because I'd bring my collection and then you could hear the latest hits.
"After a while, I realised that, at these teenage parties, my records ended up covered in vomit and cigarette ends. So, I'd say, 'Look, I'm coming, but I'm not bringing my records, because they're going to get trashed'."

Feb 22, 2019: The Guardian: Fatboy Slim review – cut'n'paste rave larges it to arena proportions
Had things gone differently, what a marketing executive Norman Cook would have made. Long before producers-turned-rave-ringmasters Guetta and Harris had laid their hands on a USB stick, he recognised that DJ sets in large venues need to be more than just a bloke playing records. In his hands, the process is akin to a rock gig, with a ladleful of circus on top. The opening date of this in-the-round arena tour takes the properties of a rave and magnifies them.
