Dec 6, 2012:
Green Day's three-album run this year began with the exhilarating, all-aboard-for-funtime blast of ¡Uno!, and now it ends with a symphonic long goodbye. ¡Tré! picks up where its predecessor, ¡Dos!, left off: with a nod to soul pioneer Sam Cooke. "Brutal Love" channels Cooke's "Bring It on Home to Me," and its strings and Memphis-style horns deliver grandeur and depth to the song's erotic desperation. The strings return for ¡Tré!'s closing song, "The Forgotten," a five-minute piano ballad that unfolds like a lost track from the second side of Abbey Road. "Don't look away from the arms of love," Billie Joe Armstrong sings, as he brings the trilogy in for a sweet, soft landing. (SOURCE: Rolling Stone ) 10.29.12:
Having already called off a bunch of appearances, the band announced this morning that they have canceled the remainder of their 2012 appearances and are postponing a total of 21 dates in January and February. “Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s (rehab) well-being is our main concern,” Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement sent out by the band’s publicist this morning. “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.” (SOURCE: Music Mix ) 10.12.12:
Last month, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong checked into rehab for substance abuse after an onstage tirade at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas, and Rolling Stone has learned his road to recovery may be a long one. "His rehab is no joke," says Warner Bros. Records Chairman Rob Cavallo. "He's under medical supervision for a while to get him clean." So far, the band has canceled appearances including New Orleans' upcoming Voodoo Music and Arts Experience. They currently have tour dates scheduled beginning November 26th at Seattle's Paramount Theatre and wrapping in February, but it's still up in the air whether more dates will be canceled.
