Elon Reeve Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa's administrative capital. He is the founder, chairman, CEO, and CTO of SpaceX; angel investor, CEO, product architect, and former chairman of Tesla, Inc.; owner, executive chairman, and CTO of X Corp.; founder of the Boring Company and xAI; co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI; and president of the Musk Foundation. He is one of the wealthiest people in the world; as of April 2024, Forbes estimates his net worth to be $178 billion. A member of the wealthy South African Musk family, Musk was born in Pretoria and briefly attended the University of Pretoria before immigrating to Canada at age 18, acquiring citizenship through his Canadian-born mother. Two years later, he matriculated at Queen's University at Kingston in Canada. Musk later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania and received bachelor's degrees in economics and physics. He moved to California in 1995 to attend Stanford University, but dropped out after two days and, with his brother Kimbal, co-founded online city guide software company Zip2. The startup was acquired by Compaq for $307 million in 1999. That same year, Musk co-founded X.com, a direct bank. X.com merged with Confinity in 2000 to form PayPal. In October 2002, eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion. Using $100 million of the money he made from the sale of PayPal, Musk founded SpaceX, a spaceflight services company, in 2002.

The Strange Saga of "Adrian Dittman" and Laura Loomer’s Public Showdown Last night after dinner at a Mexican restaurant near my office, I received a frantic text from a friend in Palm Beach urging me to tune into a live Spaces on X. The premise? Laura Loomer defending herself in a tense and combative debate moderated by a group of men—one of whom my friend insisted was Elon Musk allegedly operating under the pseudonymous “Adrian Dittman." The voice was unmistakable. Over the course of the conversation, “Dittman” and the other participants relentlessly pressured Loomer to draft (and publicly read aloud) an apology for her accidental doxing, which she reluctantly delivered live shortly after posting it. The whole exchange was unsettling. Many on X called it a witch hunt with one user even likening it to a “verbal gang rape.” (Substack 12/29/24) READ MORE>>>>> Trump appears to side with Musk, tech allies in debate over foreign workers roiling his supporters President-elect Donald Trump appears to be siding with Elon Musk and his other backers in the tech industry as a dispute over immigration visas has divided his supporters. That’s nearly the size of the US government’s projected 2024 deficit. But here’s the thing, this project might not just fail — it could crash the entire US economy..D.O.G.E isn’t even a real government department. It’s an advisory group. It can’t implement anything without Congress or Trump signing off. But Elon’s name carries weight. His involvement alone has turned this into more than a theoretical exercise. The plans are aggressive: massive layoffs, dissolving agencies, and gutting regulations. While Trump and his allies are cheering it on, skeptics are sounding alarms about the possible fallout. There was a time when he had a reputation as an environmentalist, as the success of his electric car company Tesla was seen as a positive step in reducing transportation-related greenhouse emissions. Over the last few years, however, Musk’s politics have drifted steadily to the right, and that includes his stance on global warming and sustainability. In a recent conversation with Donald Trump, Musk downplayed climate change’s urgency, claiming that “it’s not like the house is on fire immediately” and that “people can still have a steak and they can still drive gasoline cars, and it’s okay.” Musk’s statements are often contradictory, however. He went on to characterize climate action as “something we need to move towards,” albeit “without causing hardship in the short term.” Musk has also praised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who made headlines recently for banning the sale of cultivated meat in his state. And yet despite all of this, Musk’s company SpaceX has collaborated with Aleph Farms, an Israeli company that makes alternative meat, to investigate the viability of growing cultivated meat in space. In 2022, a four-man team flew to the International Space Station on a SpaceX capsule with cultivated beef cells in tow, and studied the viability of growing those cells into edible meat in zero gravity conditions. It seems contradictory: Musk’s company participates in an experiment that promotes meat alternatives (in space, at least), yet he’s also vocally downplayed beef’s role in driving climate pollution (back on Earth). While only Musk knows what’s going on in his head, the fact remains that his company has at least played a small role in research to advance cultivated meat technology. Outside of that, Musk’s company Tesla stopped using animal products in its cars in 2019, replacing the traditional leather seats with vinyl. “I can’t wait. There is a lot of waste and needless regulation in government that needs to go...I think we need a government efficiency commission to say like, ‘Hey, where are we spending money that’s sensible. Where is it not sensible? We need to live within our means. I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises. No pay, no title, no recognition is needed.” --Elon Musk 8.13.24
"It is premature to discuss any prospective personnel in the next administration, but we welcome the enthusiasm and support of Elon Musk. When Elon started the conversation with the president, I think the president was very excited that somebody like Elon Musk is so dedicated to America’s future that he would be willing to be a part of something to help the government work more efficiently.” --Brian Hughes; Trump campaign senior advisor. 8.13.24 Supreme Court Rejects Elon Musk's Bid To Overturn SEC Decision: Report The U.S. Supreme Court declined to review Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s appeal regarding a securities fraud settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The court upheld the 2018 SEC settlement following Musk’s social media statement about Tesla, involving a $20 million fine, according to a report from Reuters. The settlement stemmed from Musk’s claim of having “funding secured” to privatize Tesla, which the SEC deemed false, leading to accusations of defrauding investors.
